Hunting Season Opened Saturday!

This week we have been getting ready for archery hunting season, which opened yesterday. I had to pull out all the camo and wash it in scent-free soap, get out all the calls and decoys, and get out the hunting accesories. I think Henry is pretty well set for this year. He has been counting down the days till hunting season since the day he got his deer last year. I have a deer and elk tag too, but someone needs to stay home with Kyle ;) Today the whole family gathered at Dad and Mom's to watch the Utah at Michigan football game. Utah tried to loose it in the 2nd half, but despite their best efforts they won by 2 points. GO UTES! Afterward we pulled out the fire pit and made smores. Messy but good! Notice Kyle has no pants on. Once you change a diaper, he won't let you get his pants back on.
Kyle helping make mini hot dogs.
He would eat hot dogs for every meal if given a chance!
Kyle drew all over his face with sidewalk chalk.
It looked like make-up. Henry claims it was war paint!

Root Canal

This past week as been a busy one so I will post things by subject. Be sure to read them all! :) Lucky me, I was lucky enough to have a root canal yesterday! That would be my 2nd one in 4 months. I really hope I am done with those for a while. My tooth had been hurting since last Wednesday and I tried to get to the dentist last week but it wasn't bad yet and they are getting ready to move their office so they were booked until September 9th. Saturday and Sunday I couldn't eat anything because I couldn't put pressure on my tooth (and it was the lower right 4th one back from center front). So I was living on juice, water, and carnation instant breakfast. I will say not being able to eat for a few days is a great weight loss plan! Ha, ha,ha. Glad it is over with for now!

Ballon Festival

Saturday was also the Balloon Festival. We go every year. The State Park by us had a big Hot Air Balloon Festval the last weekend before Labor day. We had bad weather earlier in the day so not too many showed up for the Glow. That is when they set up the balloons at at night light up the balloons with their fire but they don't take off. The wind started to pik up so what ever balloons were there took them down. What a bummer! But the kids had fun looking at the balloons and they played in a bounce house and had cotton candy.

Daddy and Kyle walking in the balloons.

Then Sunday morning is the Mass Ascention. Usually there are over 75 balloons that paricipate but this year only 30 or so were there. We got up a little late so we just drove thru the park a few times and looked at the balloons when they landed. Kyle got a kick out of viewing the balloons land over the truck through the sun roof.

New Truck

Saturday we bought a used pick-up truck. Henry and his work partner are down sizing their warehouse to storage units. Part of the down sizing is going to be getting rid os the delivery van. They don't use it too much, but deliveries will most likely be to our house or will call at the trucking company so he needed something to haul stuff in. It also doen;t hurt that hunting season starts Saturday too! We baought a 2005 Nissan Frontier with 4 doors so Kyle can ride in it. He loves the new truck. That is the only car he will ride in, when it is home. "Truck! Truck!" Brain will be buying the Mazda 6 wagon from us so he can have a good reliable car up at school.

Just hanging out!

August 13-15 Henry was in Rockford, IL to do training for his largest dealer, Oak Express and Bedroom Expressions. Kyle and I just hung out with Dad and Mom and Brian. We had dinner with them and Brian and I made message boards. I made one for Kyle's room for pictures out of a light burgandy plaid fabric with log cabin and pine cone buttons so it goes with his outdoors themed room. We even bought a toy bear skin rug for his room a few weeks ago. He likes to go in and growl at it. What a goof! Brian made one for his room up at BYU Idaho. He made his out of a dragon material with red ribbon and really cool gold buttons. I also posted a couple pictures of my birthday dinner, so check them out on my birthday dinner post.

Potty Training

Kyle has been wanting to go potty in the toilet so we have him sit on it a few times a day just so he gets used to it. We have bought him underwear. We had to get Mickey, Cars, and Thomas, and the training underwear. He loves to wear them! But today was the first day he actually went potty in the toilet. Yeah Kyle! A few hours later though he went on the linolium, at least it was an easy clean up. His favorite part of going potty is getting to wash his hands.

Birthday Dinner

So last Tuesday was my birthday. Henry took me to dinner and then we went clothes shopping (I hate to go shopping but needed new church clothes). On Sunday we had a family birthday dinner. Mom made pepper steak, my favorite. It was goooood! Kyle helped me blow out the candles. Of course, brian was challenged to stuff a piece of cake in his mouth in one bite. Brian, never one to miss a challenge did so. We love having Uncle Rat home!

Estes Park

Saturday we went to Estes Park with Brian. This is one of our favoraite places in Colorado. We go every fall with Dad and Mom, and Michael and Mary and their girls. Because Brian is in Idaho for school doesn't get to go anymore. So we decided while he was home we would go up for a day. It was dissapointing this time though because we saw only 5 elk the whole day. Kyle enjoyed feeding the fish in the little pond in the main marketplace. We also has to stop at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, another tradition.

Hot! Hot! Hot!

This past week has been a hot one! Just to give you an idea, today is the 22nd day Denver has been in the 90's and Friday and Saturday was 104 and 103. Luckily we spend 3 days a week at the pool with some friends. We go at 10 am, before it gets too hot and busy, and stay until about noon. It gets Kyle good and tired so he takes a good long nap. Yeah for me! Other than that we have been inside with the a.c. cranked.

Kyle loves to play with anything that moves!

Henry was gone most of last week to the Las Vegas Furniture show, so I hung out at my parents with them and Brian and Michael (his wife was out of town with their kids). Kyle had a lot of fun with uncles Rat and Michael. He doesn't get one on one time with Michael because of his 3 girls.

Friday I went to Barnes and Noble and bought my copy of Breaking Dawn (the 4th book in the Twilight series) by Stephanie Myer. It went on sale at 12:01 am Saturday morning, and I was there to buy my copy. I came home and read until 5 am. Then I read off and on Saturday and Sunday, of course staying up until 2 am each night (or morning depending on how you look at it). I finsished it this morning at 2 am. It was a good book, but my favorite is still the first one, Twilight. A friend has it now and don't worry Mary, I will have it back by Sunday so you can read it.

I have been the Bear leader in our ward for 2 1/2 years now. Beacuse of church and scout rules I can't be alone with the boys and my co-leader (the wolf leader) moved in June so we haven't been having scouts. I have been waiting for them to call a new wolf leader for me to work with. On Sunday they called two men to be cub scout leaders. They haven't released me yet but I think it is coming this week (the webelos leaders are husband and wife and have been in less than 2 years). I will have to wait and see what happens.
