Scout Camp

So this week has been filled with 11 year old scout camp stuff. We are so glad the camp out is over and now my fun begins, cleaning it up! Henry had some friends he shoots archery with come down and they did an archery demonstration. Saturday afternoon is dedicated to archey. There are 4 stations; arrow fletching, making a bow string, shooting (they shoot a stick and string bow at 20 yds.), and then the demonstration with Henry and friends. His friends shoot at balloons on a target at 20 yds., then they move back to 50 yds, then further back to 100 yds. (a football field length). The boys always get a kick out of the 100 yd. shots.

Henry always comes back from camp in a bad mood because he doesn't sleep. They boys stay up almost all night talking and laughing. Luckily a few parents stay down there and yell at the boys after 2:00am. Henry's deer brats and deer cheddar dogs are legendary in the stake! We just got a new stake presidency called in Feb and the the out going 2nd counselor told the new 2nd counselor that he needed to go to the Roxborough Ward at dinner time and get some brats. Every year there are more people to feed. It is actually really funny. I forgot to get some pictures of scout camp, ooops.

We also had some friends come to town from Jacksonville, FL, the Englands (Dave, Shauna, Zoey, Dave, and Ben). We went to dinner Saturday evening and then took the kids to a park to let them run around. Kyle is a big fan of the swing!

On Sunday we went out to Michael and Mary's for dinner. Kudos on the pulled pork sandwiches! It was hot so the kids ran through the sprinkler. Kyle is a fan of water and being wet.

Camp Out

This week we went camping with our ward. We went to a place that is 30 mins. south west of us called Lone Rock. It was beautiful. Right next to the campsites was the South Platte river. It was very shallow and slow so it was good for the kids to play in and wade in. We brought Kyle's fishing pole and he had a blast fishing! He did not want to get out of the river for anything, not dinner, not smores, not bed. Luckily a young man in our ward who babysits Kyle often brought a football so Kyle carried that around and played with it the rest of the night. It started to rain at 9:30 so we went to bed early. In the morning Kyle wanted to go fishing again. So Henry took him down after breakfast. Kyle ended up throwing another kids sippy cup in the river. Henry had to retrive it and got soaked in the prossess, so ended the Ferguson's camping trip.

Happy Father's Day

I know this is a day late but our router died last week. We had to go out and by a new router and Henry had to set it up. For anyone who doesn't know Henry, that was a task for him.

Yesterday was Father's Day, hope everyone had a great day! We had my parents (Steve and Jeanne) and my brother Michael and his wife Mary and there three kids Ashlee, Kristen, and Melissa over for dinner. We used one of Henry's Father's Day gifts (a smoker) and smoked 2 briskets. The flavor was good but they weren't tender. We will try again later and cook it longer and at a lower heat. It was such a nice day that we pulled out Kyle's slip n slide. The kids had a blast. Kyle likes to run through the water, not a fan of the sliding yet! But boy does he love to play in the water.

I am starting summer piano lessons this week. It will be interesting to see how many take piano this summer. The school district out here just switched from year-round school to traditional school. A few parents have already called and are going to take the summer off for vacations and sports.

Henry is just working hard and projects just keep coming faster than he can finish them. He is busy getting ready for the 11 year old scout camp at the end of the month. He has fun there but is always glad when it is over.

Kyle is busy playing. His favorite toy is the Thomas the Tank Engine Take Along set. They are the die cast trains not the wood ones. He loves to play outside best of all. He loves to play with the basketball set and we just bought him a t-ball set. It was for 5+ but he sets the ball on the t and hits it with the bat. He does pretty well. Henry needs to work him on his form.

Pictures from the Trail Timer Camera

Henry went out Friday to get the memory card out of the trail timer camera from our hunting spot. The spot were we hunt is about 30 min. from our house. He was shocked to see what was on it. Less than 2 hours after we set it up, a Mommy bear and 2 cubs came walking by. Note the time stamps on all 3 pictures.

The first picture is Henry setting up the camera.

The second one is of a bear sniffing the camera.

The third one is of a Mommy bear and her two cubs.

Our First Post

I know it is about time we set up a blog. Here it is. A little about us:

Henry is busy with work. He has no plans to go to China again this year. He has a few trips planned but they are for trade shows and training with Furniture Row. He is getting ready for hunting season. We have been scouting and we even set up a trail timer camera (it take pictures of movement). He will actually go back today to see what is on it. While setting it up, we were hiking out and came across a mountain lion kill. Ooops! I made him go out and get bear spray after that. It looks like we were both drawn for deer and elk hunts in our area. Final results will be posted next week. Henry is still the 11 year old scout leader in our ward. He is also the stake assistant 11 year old scout leader. He is getting ready for a 3 stake, 1 night, 11 year old camp.

Staci is loving being a mom. She chases Kyle everywhere and loves to play with him. She is also the bear leader in cub scouts for our ward. She is getting ready to start summer piano lessons. Last spring she had 17 students. A few will be taking the summer off though. She still loves to scrapbook (we will be getting a scrapbook room set up soon), decorate cakes, and cook.

Kyle is almost 2 1/2 and acts every bit of it! His favorite work is "no" and sometimes adds "I fine" to the end. We don't think he knows how to walk anywhere, he runs. He is obsessed with trains and Thomas the Tank Engine. We bought a membership to a train museum in town and go often. He also loves to watch Mickey's Clubhouse, House of Mouse, My Friends Tigger and Pooh, and Little Einsteins on the Disney Channel. Kyle also loves to play with balls. He loves soccer balls and it just breaks daddy's heart! He loves baseballs, basketballs, and footballs too.

I will try to update every week. We will see how life goes though.
